Region 18 Championship Sees Numerous Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network Athletes Excel

first_img Written by FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailFILLMORE, Utah-Tusday afternoon, Millard High School hosted the Region 18 track and field championships which saw numerous Mid-Utah Radio Sports Network athletes excel in their events.With the top four spots in every event qualifying for state, this was a great chance for those who had previously not qualified to get onto the famed blue track at Brigham Young University May 18 and 19.Millard’s boys took the region title, amassing 152 points while Beaver placed second with 134 points. Kanab placed third with 91 points.The girls’ title was won by North Sevier, as the Wolves posted 137 points, with Millard placing second at 129 points. Kanab finished fifth with 71 points.Millard’s Jaxon Wardle placed second in the boys’ 100-meter dash, while Cole Marshall of Beaver and Riley Ogden of North Sevier, placed third and fourth, respectively.In the girls’ 100-meter dash, Carsyn Button of Kanab finished second, with Beaver’s Brooklyn Crum placing third and Bethany Nording of Kanab placing fourth.The boys’ 400-meter dash title was won by Millard’s Nathan DeSpain in a time of 52.83 seconds. Also qualifying were Beaver’s Spencer Williams, placing second, with his teammate, Hunter Carter placing third and Jarom Johnson of Kanab finished fourth.Gunnison’s Jade Wimmer won the girls’ 400-meter dash region title in a time of 1:00.28, while Millard’s Katy Kelly placed second, Kanab’s Bethany Nording placed third and Audrey Camp of Millard placed fourth.The boys’ 800-meter dash run crown was won by Beaver’s Spencer Williams in a time of 2:05.75. Kanab’s Dustin Bistline placed second, with Beaver’s Caysen Crum in third and Morris Maxfield of Millard finished fourth.In the girls’ 800-meter dash, Beaver’s Samantha Williams earned the region crown in a time of 2:26.62. Katy Kelly of Millard placed second with Audrey Camp of Millard finishing in third.The boys’ 1600-meter run saw another Beaver Beaver win the overall #1 seed for the state meet as Caysen Crum posted a time of 4:49.12, with Millard’s Shade Woodard in third and his teammate, Jaren Camp, placing fourth.The girls’ 1600-meter run saw North Sevier’s Ashlin Goble place second, while Kelly Bistline of Kanab placed third, with each qualifying.North Sevier’s Mayci Torgerson swept the 100 and 300-meter hurdles titles for the girls. Also qualifying in the girls’ 100-meter hurdles were Carsyn Button of Kanab, who finished second and Millard’s Rylee Miller placed third. Meanwhile, other qualifiers in the 300-meter hurdles included Rylee Miller placing third and Beaver’s Kaitlyn Hemond finishing fourth.In the boys’ 110-meter hurdles, Kanab’s Matt Glover (3rd place) and Tilden Kesler of Millard placed fourth, taking the last two qualifying slots.Matt Glover did win the 300-meter hurdles’ region crown in a time of 42.97 seconds. Tilden Kesler of Millard placed second, while Dustin Bistline of Kanab was third and Sam Marshal of Millard took the fourth, and last automatic bid to the state meet.In the boys’ long jump, Beaver’s Cole Marshall took the region crown with a leap of 21-08.75 feet. Benjamin Hill and Ethan Carter of Gunnison placed second and third, respectively, while Seth Carraway of Kanab finished fourth.The girls’ long jump title was won by North Sevier’s Mayci Torgerson with a leap of 15-10.50 feet, while Linley White and Kaitlyn Hemond of Beaver placed third and fourth, respectively.In the boys’ high jump, Millard’s Duncan Herbst finished second, while Hunter Higgs of North Sevier finished third, each qualifying in this event.Mayci Torgerson of North Sevier won a fourth region title in the girls’ high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 7 inches. Also qualifying were Millard’s Rylee Miller placing second and Kobree Penney, her teammate, securing the last spot.Linley White of Beaver won the girls’ javelin with a toss of 115-06 feet and Kenzie Mason of North Sevier placed third.North Sevier’s Kenzie Mason won the girls’ shot put crown with a toss of 36-04.50 feet, with Ayla Lunt of Millard placing second. Brinley Mason and Alaina Barney of North Sevier placed third and fourth, respectively.Beaver’s Treyson Harris and Josh Wood placed second and third respectively in the boys’ discus to each secure a place at state.In the girls’ discus, Kenzie Mason of North Sevier placed second, with Kanab’s Annie Bateman placing third and North Sevier’s Brinley Mason placing fourth.The Millard boys won the 4 x 100 relay region title in 45.77 seconds, with Nathan Despain, Braxton Robins, Tilden Kesler and Sam Marshal representing the Eagles. North Sevier placed third and Gunnison finished fourth.In the girls’ 4 x 100 relay, Kanab placed second, with Gunnison placing third and North Sevier finishing fourth.The boys’ medley relay was won by North Sevier in a time of 4:00.58. Winning the region title for the Wolves was Riley Ogden, Gabe Wilcox, Jagen Blackburn, Nolan Mickelsen and Sergio Rico.In the girls’ medley, Beaver won in a time of 4:24.75 with the Beavers represented by Brooklyn Crum, Linley White, Kaitlyn Hemond, Samantha Williams and Cortnee Miller.The boys’ 200-meter dash saw Millard’s Jaxon Wardle place second and his teammate, Nathan Despain, finished fourth overall.The girls’ 200-meter dash saw Kanab’s Bethany Nording qualify in another event, placing second overall, as Katy Kelly of Millard finished third and Beaver’s Brooklyn Crum placed fourth.The boys’ 3200-meter run saw Millard’s Shade Woodard place second, with Dylan Bistline of Kanab finishing third.In the girls’ 3200-meter run, Millard’s Audrey Camp took the region title in a time of 12:53.36. Ashlin Goble of North Sevier finished third to also qualify.Beaver’s Josh Webb won the boys’ javelin title with a toss of 145-01 feet and Millard’s Duncan Herbst placed second. Tyler Griffiths of Beaver also qualified, placing third.Austin Carter of Beaver won the boys’ shot put title with a toss of 65-00.50 feet while his teammates, Treyson Harris and Shaw Coombs placed third and fourth, respectively.Finally, in the 4 x 400 relay, Millard’s boys won the region title in a time of 3:44.74 as the Eagles’ team consisted of Jaren Camp, Kael Myers, Turner Koyle and Morris Maxfield. Beaver placed second, while North Sevier finished third.The Millard girls also won the 4 x 400 relay in a time of 4:25.00 as Maria Josee, Kobree Penney, Khari Cox and Katy Kelly represented the Eagles.
