At Thursday’s board meeting in Dawson Creek, the North Pines Farmers Institute asked the district to support an application submitted to the Northeast Regional Development Account for the Northern Development Initiative Trust. – Advertisement -The Institute is proposing to acquire and operate the Cargill elevator facilities in Fort St. John. So, the group is applying for a $965,000 loan, to buy a rail head and grain elevator. On September 22, The North Pines Farmers Institute entered into an agreement of purchase sale with Cargill Ltd. Northern Development CEO Janine North says the proposed facility could give farmers in the North Peace a more economical way to get their product to market.
